Project Description:
The Victorian Government’s Water Plan describes a $4.9 billion investment in major water infrastructure projects that will provide Victoria with water security for the State’s growing population and economic development in the face of climate change.
The Water Plan contains five key actions, including a desalinisation plant for Melbourne, expansion of Victoria’s water grid, upgrade of Melbourne’s Eastern Treatment Plant to provide over 100 GL of recycled water in 2012, support of new and existing water conservation programs for home and industry, and modernisation of the Food Bowl (GMID) irrigation system to capture water savings for the benefit of farms, the environment and Melbourne (the NVIRP).
Hydro Environmental was engaged to assist NVIRP in the planning and delivery of Stage 1 of the Northern Victorian Irrigation Renewal Project (NVIRP). This included the provision of assistance in planning, design and delivery of the NVIRP, water savings management including a framework for the independent audit of savings, business strategy and development, and NVIRP stakeholder relations.
