Project Description:
This project involved undertaking a review of management processes and guidelines for development, or review and renewal, of irrigation based Land and Water Management Plans. The project objectives were to:
- Evaluate the existing management process between DSE and regional implementation partners/ strategic planners for the development or review and renewal of irrigation based Land and Water Management Plans, and propose a revised process if required
- Ensure that the intent of LWMPs and Regional Catchment Strategies were aligned
- Evaluate the current draft LWMP Guidelines (September 2004) to ensure that they met the needs of the Sustainable Irrigation Program for the preparation of irrigation based LWMPs, and revise the Guidelines if required
- Strengthen community and regional agency ownership in the development, review and renewal of LWMPs, and provide for a smooth process for Government endorsement of LWMPs.
