Project Description:
Hydro Environmental was engaged by the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) to assist in a range of areas relating to its Statewide water quality and quantity tendering process. This assistance included:
- Undertaking field inspections of over 400 water quality and quantity monitoring sites
- Developing the framework for its “Monitoring Site Inventory Database”
- Writing all of the technical documents, including the Technical Specifications, Tender Forms and Contract
- Reviewing and assessing the Tenders submitted and recommending a preferred Contractor
- Preparing the Contracts which will be entered into by DSE and the Contractor.
The project has also involved assisting DSE in developing partnership arrangements with other regional monitoring organisations (including Rural and Urban Water Authorities, Victorian Catchment Management Authorities, and the Murray-Darling Basin Commission).
The nine Contracts to be established via the tendering process will be worth in excess of $8 million over three years, and will capture over 600 water quality and quantity monitoring sites.
Hydro Environmental was also instrumental in the establishment of the Gippsland water quality and quantity monitoring arrangements, which have been in place and operating successfully since December 2002.
